Looking after it

Wipe grit out of the tyre grooves so the wheels seat properly. Keep the rack off a permanently wet floor, and dry it after bikes have come in wet, as with any powder coated steel.

Three BikesSide by side, each held upright
Paired Holding PlatesFront and back plates with tyre grooves
Entirely FreestandingNo drilling, no wall, no fixings
Linked And HeavyHolders joined, so it is steadier than singles

Three bikes, side by side, nothing screwed to anything.

A freestanding powder coated steel rack with paired holding plates and tyre grooves, so each bike stands vertically instead of leaning on the next.

Three bikes park side by side, each held vertically rather than leaning against the next one.

It is completely freestanding, so nothing is drilled and the rack can be moved or taken with you.

Two holding plates per bike, front and back, both with tyre grooves set at a holding angle.

The holders are linked together, which makes the rack heavier and more stable than three separate stands.

It fits everything from 30 cm children's wheels up to 700c road bikes.

Bike Floor Parking Rack, 3 Bike

Three bikes leaning against a garage wall is a domino arrangement. One gets nudged, all three go over, and the one at the bottom takes the weight of the other two through its derailleur.

Bike Floor Parking Rack, 3 Bike

A floor rack gives each bike its own place and holds it upright, so nothing rests on anything else. That alone stops most of the small damage bikes do to each other in storage.

Bike Floor Parking Rack, 3 Bike

The holding system is the part that separates this from a cheap wheel slot. There are two plates per bike, front and back, each with a tyre groove, and they are set at a holding angle so the wheel is gripped rather than balanced. The paired plates also stop the upper part of the holder splaying outwards over time, which is what makes older racks progressively less able to hold a bike.

Everything is linked together into one unit, which makes it heavier and more stable than three individual stands standing near each other. It also means the spacing is fixed and correct, rather than drifting every time someone parks in a hurry.

Nothing is drilled. That makes it the obvious choice for a rented garage or a flat, and it means the whole rack can be picked up and moved when the space gets rearranged.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bikes does this rack hold?

Three. The same rack is available in four, five and six bike capacities.

Does it need fixing to the floor or wall?

No. It is entirely freestanding, so nothing is drilled and the rack can be moved or taken with you.

How does it hold each bike?

Two holding plates per bike, one front and one back, each with a tyre groove and set at a holding angle so the wheel is gripped rather than just resting.

Why two plates instead of one?

The paired plates stop the holder splaying wider at the top over time. A holder that widens holds the bike less securely, which is how older racks become wobbly.

What is it made of?

High quality powder coated steel with a smooth finish, which is also what helps it avoid scratching the bikes.

Can I use it outdoors?

It is recommended for indoor use. Powder coated steel left out in British weather will suffer eventually, and the rack offers no weather protection to the bikes anyway.

What wheel sizes does it fit?

30 cm to 50 cm children's bikes, 50 cm to 60 cm BMX, 66 cm to 74 cm mountain bikes and 700c road bikes.

Will it hold wide tyres?

Standard and mountain bike tyres are covered by the stated range. Very wide fat-bike tyres are the usual exception on any grooved rack.

Is it stable with only one bike in it?

Yes. The holders are linked into one unit, so the whole rack's weight steadies a single bike rather than that bike relying on its own slot.

Can I mix adult and children's bikes in it?

Yes, the compatibility range covers both. Alternating directions helps if handlebars clash.

Can bikes go in facing opposite ways?

Yes, and it is worth doing. Handlebars are the widest part, so alternating them front to back lets three bikes sit closer together.

Will it scratch my bikes?

The finish is smooth specifically to avoid that, and the tyre is what sits in the groove rather than the rim or the frame.

How much space does it need?

The footprint is roughly three bikes side by side plus room to wheel each in and out. Measure your wall run before ordering.

Can I move it once the bikes are in?

Take the bikes out first. Dragging a loaded rack puts side loads on the holding plates.

Does it come assembled?

It is assembled from the supplied parts, and there is a detailed instruction video in the original listing. The holders link together to form the finished rack.

Is it suitable for a rented garage?

Yes, and that is one of its main advantages. Nothing is fixed to the building.

Can it be used in a communal bike store?

It holds bikes; it does not secure them. In any shared space the bikes still need locking to something solid.

Will it work on an uneven floor?

It works best on a firm level surface. On a sloping garage floor, position it so the slope runs along the rack rather than across it.

Does it damage the wheels?

No. The tyre sits in the groove, so the rim and spokes carry no load from the rack.

Can I park a bike with panniers on it?

You can, though a loaded bike is heavier and wider. Take the panniers off if the bikes either side are tight against it.

Will it hold an e-bike?

Check the tyre width and the bike's weight. E-bikes are heavier than the bikes these racks are usually asked to hold, so treat the fit as something to verify.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it down and clear grit out of the tyre grooves, since a groove full of stones stops the wheel seating properly.

Will it rust in a garage?

The powder coating is there to prevent that. Keeping it off a permanently wet floor and drying it after wet bikes is what makes the coating last.

Is it heavy?

It is heavier than a single bike stand, deliberately. That weight is where the stability comes from.

Can I take it to an event?

It is freestanding and movable, so yes, though it is a garage rack rather than a lightweight portable stand.

Should I get the three bike or a larger one?

Buy for the bikes you have plus any you expect. Four, five and six bike versions exist, and a larger rack costs less than replacing a smaller one later.

Can two racks be used side by side?

Yes, if you need more capacity than six. They stand independently.

What if my bike does not sit firmly?

Check the tyre is fully down in the groove and the groove is clear of grit. That accounts for most cases of a bike feeling loose.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days across the UK. Delivery is free on orders over £75 and £25 otherwise, so this rack qualifies for free delivery on its own.

Can I return it if it does not fit my garage?

Yes. It is a stock item, so the full 14 day right to change your mind applies alongside your faulty goods rights.

Parking several bikes without them falling on each other

4 min read SpaceSaver

The domino problem

Bikes leaned against a wall are held up by friction and optimism.

Three of them lean against each other, and the whole row depends on the end one staying put. Something knocks it, or a tyre goes soft overnight, and they go down as a set. The bike at the bottom takes the weight of the other two, usually on the derailleur, which is the most expensive part to bend.

A rack removes the dependency. Each bike stands in its own holder, and nothing rests on anything else, so a knock moves one bike rather than three.

Why two plates per bike matter

The cheap version of this product is a single row of slots.

A single slot holds the wheel at one point, so the bike can pivot around it, and the upright part of the holder gradually splays outwards as bikes are pushed in and out. A wider holder grips less. Over a couple of years the rack quietly stops doing its job.

Front and back plates fix the wheel at two points along its circumference and brace each other, so nothing widens. That is the difference between a rack that holds bikes now and one that still holds them in five years.

Freestanding is a real advantage

Everything else in bike storage wants to be screwed to the building: wall hooks, tracks, ceiling hoists.

This does not. That matters if you rent, if the garage walls are breeze block that crumbles, or if the layout is going to change when the car gets bigger.

It also means the rack can be taken outside for a wash down, moved to the side for a job, and picked up entirely when you move house.

Getting the bikes in cleanly

Two habits make a multi-bike rack pleasant rather than fiddly.

Alternate the directions. Handlebars are the widest part of a bike and they are all at one end. Park one facing in, the next facing out, and each set of bars sits beside a narrow rear end instead of another set of bars. On three bikes this is often what makes the difference between comfortable and cramped.

Push the tyre right down. The groove is cut at a holding angle, and a wheel that is only half seated feels loose because it is. If a bike wobbles, the first thing to check is whether the tyre is fully down and whether the groove has collected grit.

Indoors, and why that is stated

The rack is recommended for indoor use, and it is worth taking that at face value.

Powder coated steel copes well with a dry garage and less well with permanent exposure to rain. More to the point, a rack does nothing for the bikes in weather terms: a bike parked outdoors in a rack gets exactly as wet as a bike leaning on a fence.

If the bikes have to live outside, the rack keeps them upright, and a cover or a shelter is a separate purchase doing the other half of the job.
