Wipe road grit off the hooks so the rubber coating is not grinding dirt against a rim. Check the wall fixings once a season, since the track carries the full weight of every bike on it.

Four BikesOne track, four hook positions
Hooks Slide On The TrackSpace them for the bikes you actually own
Rubber Coated HooksNo damage to wheels, rims or spokes
Fat Tyres To 11.2 cmRoad, MTB, BMX, kids and fat bikes

Four bikes on a wall, off the floor entirely.

A powder coated steel track with rubber coated hooks that hold the wheel, not the rim, and take tyres up to 11.2 cm.

Four bikes hang vertically from one track, so a garage wall does the work the floor was doing.

The hooks slide along the track, which means the spacing is set around your bikes rather than fixed by the drill holes.

Hooks are rubber coated and shaped so the wheel is supported without the rim or spokes taking any load.

It takes tyres up to 11.2 cm, so fat bikes fit alongside road bikes.

Kits can be fitted separately or joined together into one continuous rail if you add more later.

Bike Wall Storage, 4 Bike Kit

Four bikes on a garage floor is not four bikes' worth of space. It is that plus the room to get past them, plus the space where one of them falls over and leans on the next.

Bike Wall Storage, 4 Bike Kit

Hanging them vertically off a single track turns all of that into wall. The floor comes back, the car door opens, and the bikes stop knocking each other's gears out of adjustment.

Bike Wall Storage, 4 Bike Kit

[object Object]

The hooks are rubber coated and cut wide, and the design carries the wheel without loading the rim or pushing between spokes. On a wheel that cost real money, that is the difference between storage and slow damage.

Tyre clearance goes to 11.2 cm, which covers fat bikes as well as everything narrower, so a mixed household does not need two different systems.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bikes does this kit hold?

Four. A six bike kit is available as the other option if you need more.

How do the bikes hang?

Vertically, by one wheel, from a hook on the track. That is what makes four bikes fit into the width that two would take stored horizontally.

Can I move the hooks after fitting?

Yes, the hooks are adjustable along the track. That is the main reason to choose a track over four separate hooks screwed to the wall.

Will it damage my wheels?

The hooks are rubber coated and shaped so the wheel is supported without the rim or spokes carrying the load.

What tyre width will it take?

Up to 11.2 cm, which covers fat bikes as well as everything narrower.

What bikes does it fit?

Road, cyclocross, touring, hybrid, BMX, MTB, kids, beach cruiser and folding bikes, and scooters.

What is it made of?

Heavy gauge steel with powder coated rails and rubber coated hook sleeves.

Will it rust in a garage?

It has anti-rust properties and a powder coated finish. Keeping it dry and wiping off road salt in winter is what makes any coated steel last.

Can I join two kits together?

Yes. Kits can be fitted separately or joined into one continuous rail, so you can start with four and extend later.

What fixings do I need?

That depends on your wall. Solid masonry, timber studs and plasterboard all need different fixings, and the fixing is what carries four bikes.

Can I fit it to plasterboard?

Only into the studs behind it, or with fixings genuinely rated for the load. Four bikes on cavity anchors alone is not sensible.

How high should the track go?

High enough that the hanging bike's lower wheel clears the floor, and low enough that you can lift the front wheel onto the hook without straining. Hold a bike against the wall before you mark it.

How far apart should the hooks be?

Wide enough that handlebars and pedals do not clash. Alternating bikes nose up and nose down lets you space them tighter.

Do I have to lift the whole bike?

You lift the front wheel onto the hook while the rear wheel stays on the floor, so you are taking part of the weight rather than all of it.

Will it hold an e-bike?

E-bikes are considerably heavier than normal bikes. Check the weight, make sure the wall and fixings suit it, and consider hanging it at the end of the track.

Can I hang bikes with mudguards?

Usually yes, since the hook takes the wheel. A tightly wrapped full guard is worth checking against the hook profile.

Does hanging a bike by one wheel damage it?

No. A wheel is built to carry the whole bike and rider, so supporting the bike's own weight through the rim area is well within it, especially with a rubber coated hook.

Can I hang a bike by the rear wheel instead?

Yes. Alternating which end goes up is a common way to fit more bikes into the same length of track.

Is it suitable for a shed?

Yes, provided the shed wall can carry the weight. A thin panel wall usually needs reinforcement behind it first.

Can I use it indoors in a flat?

Yes, it is used in homes and apartments. The consideration in a flat is the wall type and whether you are permitted to drill.

Will the bikes touch the wall?

Hung vertically the bike sits close to the wall. If the wall is painted plaster rather than a garage block wall, a protective pad where the tyre rests keeps marks off.

How much does it save on floor space?

Four bikes stored flat take several square metres once you include access. Hung vertically they take the depth of a wheel and the width you set.

Is it hard to install?

The track has to be mounted level and into something solid. That is the whole job; the hooks then slide on.

Does the track need support along its length?

Use all the mounting points provided rather than fixing only at the ends. That is what spreads four bikes' worth of load into the wall.

Can I take it with me when I move?

Yes, it unscrews. You will need to make good the holes as with any wall fitting.

Will kids be able to reach their bikes?

Set the hook height for the person using each bike. A children's bike hung low is far more likely to be put away by the child.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the hooks and rail. Grit on a rubber coated hook is the thing worth removing, since it can grind against a rim.

Can scooters hang on it too?

Yes, scooters are among the listed items it takes.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days across the UK. Delivery is free on orders over £75 and £25 otherwise, so this kit qualifies for free delivery on its own.

Can I return it if it does not suit my garage?

Yes. It is a stock item, so the full 14 day right to change your mind applies alongside your faulty goods rights, provided it has not been fitted.

Laying out a wall of bikes

4 min read SpaceSaver

Why a track instead of hooks

The cheap way to hang four bikes is four hooks screwed into the wall. It works, and it locks in a decision you made before you had ever hung a bike there.

Bikes are not evenly sized. A road bike is narrow at the bars and light. A mountain bike is wide, a child's bike is short, and a hybrid with a rack and panniers is bulkier than any of them. The spacing that suits the four bikes you own today is not the spacing that suits the four you will own in three years.

A track moves that decision after the drilling. You get the rail level and solid, then slide the hooks to where the bikes actually want to be, and you can change it in a minute when a bike changes.

Alternate the direction

The single trick that fits more bikes into the same rail.

Bikes are widest at the handlebars and at the pedals, and those are at opposite ends. Hang every bike the same way up and every pair of handlebars competes for the same space.

Hang one nose up, the next nose down, and the wide part of one sits beside the narrow part of its neighbour. On four bikes that routinely saves enough width to matter, and it stops pedals from tangling.

Getting the height right

Two constraints, and they pull against each other.

High enough that the bottom wheel clears the floor, so you can sweep under it and the tyre is not sitting in whatever runs across a garage floor in winter.

Low enough that lifting the wheel onto the hook is comfortable. This is the one people get wrong, because a track mounted at a satisfying height on the day feels much less satisfying in February with a wet, muddy bike.

Hold your heaviest bike against the wall and lift the front wheel to where the hook would be. If that feels like an effort in a warm garage with a clean bike, it will not get used.

The wall matters more than the rack

Four bikes is a real load, and every bit of it goes through the fixings into the wall.

Solid brick or block with proper masonry anchors is straightforward. Timber studs are fine if the fixings land in the studs, which means finding them rather than assuming. Plasterboard with only cavity anchors is not a suitable host for this, and no rack can compensate for that.

If you are unsure what your wall is made of rather than which screw to buy, that is worth resolving before you drill, not after.

Looking after the wheels

The hooks are rubber coated so the wheel is held without the rim or spokes taking the load, and that handles the mechanical side.

What is left is grit. A hook that has picked up sand and road salt has an abrasive surface, and every time a wheel is lifted on and off it, that gets dragged against the rim.

Wiping the hooks occasionally, particularly through winter, is a two minute job that keeps a rim braking surface unmarked for years.

Page summary

Bike Wall Storage 4 Bike Kit, also sold as a Bike Wall Rack or Vertical Bike Hanger, from SpaceSaver at spacesavershop.co.uk. A wall mounted vertical bike storage system that holds FOUR bikes on one adjustable track. Price GBP 79, reduced from GBP 109. A 6 Bike kit is also available as a separate option. It is built from heavy gauge steel with powder coated rails and rubber coated hook sleeves, with anti-rust, anti-crack, anti-scratch and anti-slip properties. The high strength extrusion rail supports heavy loads and the hooks are adjustable along the track, so spacing can be set to suit the bikes rather than being fixed at installation. Wide hooks make hanging and removing a bike easy, and the design avoids damage to wheels, rims and spokes. It hangs bikes VERTICALLY. It fits most bike types including road, cyclocross, touring, hybrid, BMX, kids, MTB, beach cruiser and folding bikes, and scooters, and takes fat bike tyres up to 11.2 cm wide. Rack sets can be installed separately or joined together as one continuous rail, so the system expands. It is wall mounted, so the wall and the fixings must be able to carry the combined weight of the bikes hung on it. Care: keep hooks free of grit, check wall fixings seasonally. UK wide delivery, free over GBP 75, otherwise GBP 25, arriving in 5 to 7 days. A stock item, not made to order, so the 14 day change of mind cancellation right applies in full.
